Spring Italian SchoolScholarship

2012 Midwest Highland Arts Fund - Scholarship to Study Piping Abroad!

Just imagine receiving instruction on the Great Highland Bagpipe, April 12, 13, 14, & 15, 2012, surrounded by the beauty and sun in Italy!  One piper from any Midwest Pipe Band Association member state will do just that when he or she is awarded this scholarship to attend the Italian Spring Piping School.

The scholarship will cover travel, room, board and tuition at this outstanding piping school, with world-class instructors.  Accommodations are first-class, and the Italian hospitality and cuisine result in an amazing experience.

According to 2011 MHAF Scholarship awardee, Alex Brown:

‘The trip was a once in a lifetime experience for me that will have a lasting effect on both my life and my piping.  The level of attention

I received is significant, and there were 1 on 1 sessions as well.  I took away so much information that resulted in dramatically improving my piping ability since I returned.’

You, too, can have the experience that Alex had last year.  Review the guidelines below and submit your application by the December 15, 2011 deadline in order to be considered.

The daily programs will run from 9 am - 5 pm and will cover all aspects of performance including practice routines, technique, musical expression, tuning and ensemble playing.  In addition, there will be a public concert, individual tuition, Piping Qualification Board examinations, and a CLASP competition. Details about the previous (2011) Italian Piping School can be found at http://www.italianspringschool.it (The Italian Spring School website will be updated soon with the 2012 school information and location)
