Gold Medal Tenor Drumming
The fourth annual Midwest Highland Arts Fund Gold Medal Tenor Drumming Championship, to be held January 11, 2008, in the Seville Ballroom at the Marriott Country Club Plaza, in Kansas City.
The MHAF Gold Medal, 2.5 inch (6.5 cm) diameter gold-plated on solid silver, featuring the MHAF logo, will be awarded to the day's Champion in Tenor Drumming. Open to drummers graded one or professional by their regional pipe band associations, the drummer must submit one March Strathspey - Reel and one Hornpipe - Jig set, and be accompanied by a piper and a snare drummer.
Prize moneys include First winning USD $750, Second $500, and Third $250.
In addition, the Champion will be awarded a tenor drum supplied by Premier Percussion, Pearl Drums, or Andante Percussion.
The contest will be held just before the annual MHAF Winter Storm Weekend, January 11 - 13, and that Saturday evening's WINTER STORM 2008: The Pipes & Drums Concert, performed by the workshop faculty; the Champion will also be invited to perform with the winners of the MHAF & MWPBA US Silver Medal Piobaireachd Competition, the KC St. Andrew Society MHAF US Gold Medal Piobaireachd Competition, the MCDS MHAF North American Gold Medal and Cameron MHAF Amateur Drumming Competitions, and the Davis Drums MHAF Bass Drumming Championship.
